Mar 02, 2018 (newstodate): Starting from March 1, 2018, ASR Cargo Center is new provider of air cargo handling and cargo terminal services at Helsinki Airport.
The ASR Cargo Terminal is located in part of the former Finnair Cargo Terminal directly facing the apron and with truck gates for loading and off-loading of import and export cargo.
With a total area of 3,000 sq m, ASR Cargo Center comprises a temperature controlled area for handling of perishables, cooling and freezer facilities, special areas for VAL and DGR, X-ray scanning and other pertinent services.
The new cargo terminal, fully owned by ASR, benefits from a partnership between Aviator and ASR Cargo, combining Aviator's existing airport handling at Helsinki and ASR Cargo Center's handling of trucked air cargo, since March 2014 provided at off-airport premises.
ASR Cargo Center was set up by the Hong Kong-based ASR Holding's European subsidiary ASR Europe, but is now fully Finnish-owned.
From the outset, the ASR Cargo Center staffed with six terminal workers and three back-office employees is handling cargo to and from off-line carriers Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Thai Cargo and Air Canada.
