Mar 07, 2018 (newstodate): Finnair saw its total cargo volumes down by four percent, y-o-y, in February.
A total of 9,345 tonnes of cargo was carried, including 8,729 tonnes on scheduled passenger flights and 616 tonnes on cargo flights.
But while the loads on passenger flights were up four percent, loads on cargo flights dropped by 54 percent as the agreement since 2014 with Japan Air Lines on the flights from Helsinki to Tokyo ended in October 2017 when JAL took back own sales of its capacity.
The only cargo operation by Finnair is thus three weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels, operated by DHL.
Finnair's Asian volumes were up 16.9 percent in February 2018, to 7,042 tonnes while European loads dropped 29.1 percent to 1,125 tonnes and loads on the Atlantic flights were also down 20.7 percent to 514 tonnes.
