Feb 08, 2018 (newstodate): The launch customer for EFWs Airbus A321 P2F program, Vallair is already deeply into sourcing the 10 Airbus A321 passenger aircraft required for the conversion.
-The sourcing of the aircraft is already ongoing by Vallair, confirms Peter Koster, Vallair Business Development Director.
-We have now secured some seven to eight A321 aircraft and are in a continuous process to source capacity for our program.
-The prototypes are to be released in Q2 to Q3, 2019, and the appropriate Supplemental Type Certification will be validated by FAA and EASA, respectively.
-We will then induct the next batch of A321 for conversion and follow up with feedstock as the program matures, says Mr Koster.
Announced at the Singapore Air Show yesterday, the German aerospace company Elbe Flugzeugwerke will convert 10 A321-200 passenger aircraft to a 14-pallet cargo configuration for Vallair.
In Airbus' project, the A321 P2F with 14 main-deck positions plus 10 belly container positions will be able to carry up to 27 tonnes over 1,900nm.
Adding up the total containerized volume, it equals the volume of more than 16.5 upper deck containers.
