Feb 19, 2018 (newstodate): While still on the project state, a shortened version of the Superjet 100 aircraft seems to be attracting interest from at least Russian operators.
Encouraging the aircraft manufacturer is the interest shown by S7 Airlines that may have signed a LoI for purchase of up to 100 Superjet 75 aircraft, according to Russian media.
The project for a shortened version of the Superjet 100 was first aired at the recent Singapore Air Show, and the aircraft will have new aerodynamic wings, new avionic systems and powered by new engines, either Russian or Western-made.
The Superjet 75 will serve the market at ranges 1,500-2,000 km and aim at especially domestic and regional air markets.
If the launch customer adds sufficient critical mass, the fist aircraft would take to the skies within some four years.
As the new version of the Superjet will include also fewer western-made systems and components, it would also have a stronger appeal in the export markets.
