Feb 06, 2018 (newstodate): As expected, Uzbekistan Airways is cutting the en-route stop at Riga Airport on its flights between Tashkent and New York.
With the start of the coming summer schedule, the carrier will operate the route directly non-stop from March 25, 2018.
And from May 29 to September 18, 2018, a third rotation will be added to cater to the increased market demand.
All flights will be operated with the carrier's Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Uzbekistan Airways has been using Riga Airport as a transit hub on its flights between Tashkent and New York since October 31, 2004, operating Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on two weekly rotations.
Starting from July 27, 2017, one of these two flights have been operated with Boeing 787-8 aircraft as a direct non-stop flight between Tashkent and New York, while the carrier retained Riga as an en-route stop on the second weekly flight, using the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
