Feb 14, 2018 (newstodate): Construction of a new international airport to serve Turkmenistan's eastern region has now been completed.
Turkmenabat Airport has one 3,800m runway equipped with state-of-the-art ground support facilities, including a new airfield lighting system and meteorological systems, and featuring ICAO's Cat II landing system allowing for operation with all types of aircraft.
A new terminal has been built with capacity of handling 500 passengers per hour, and the airport has one cargo terminal designed to handling of 200,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
