Feb 15, 2018 (newstodate): Set up by Chinese capital, Georgia's coming new airline MyWay Airlines aims at start of business in the latter part of 2018.
The process for obtaining an AOC is now on tracks again after being earlier suspended in 2016 as the carrier's fleet plans were changed.
In the fleet now are two ex-Shandong Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft delivered in October and November 2017, respectively, and work is also progressing on hiring cockpit and cabin crews with a focus on employing foremost Georgian nationals, whenever possible.
In the near-term plan is the opening of flights from Georgia to seven or eight destinations in Europe, the region as well as in China.
The airline is part of the activities of the Chinese investment group Hualing that is also behind the establishing of a new industrial zone in Kutaisi as well as numerous real estate projects in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
