Feb 07, 2018 (newstodate): The Nordic/Baltic carrier Primera Air is highly ambitious to carve a niche in the Transatlantic traffic by offering low-cost fares - but results do not so far match ambitions..
In July 2017, Primera Air, with HQs in Riga, announced the start of flights from Birmingham to Newark and Boston, but Primera soon suspended the flights to Boston due to low market demand and reduced the frequency on flights to New York Newark.
Plans are now to launch three weekly flights from London Stansted to Toronto, four weekly flights to Boston and a daily flight to New York from spring 2018, as well as opening new bases for long-haul flights at Birmingham and Paris.
In the fleet of Primera Air are now seven Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 737-700 aircraft, and orders have been placed for 10 Airbus aircraft including two Airbus A321LR for delivery in Q4, 2018, and eight Airbus A321Neo also slated for delivery in 2018.
