Feb 02, 2018 (newstodate): Plans are being aired for establishing Kiev Gostomel Airport as a new cargo hub.
Owned by the Antonov aircraft manufacturing company, Gostomel Airport near Kiev has one 2,500m runway capable of handling flights by large aircraft.
Seeking a new role for the airport, Antonov earlier envisaged a role for Gostomel in the low-cost traffic to relieve Kiev's international airport of the traffic.
But instead, Antonov is now formulating a business case for Gostomel Airport as a cargo bub to serve traffic between Europe and Asia, and Antonov will now seek contacts with interest logistics companies such as DHL and FedEx as well as airlines including Turkish Cargo.
