Feb 07, 2018 (newstodate): The French-Luxembourg aviation group Vallair has signed up as the launch customer for P2F conversion of the Airbus A321 aircraft.
Under a fresh contract, the German aerospace company Elbe Flugzeugwerke will convert 10 A321-200 passenger aircraft to a 14-pallet cargo configuration for Vallair.
The first aircraft will be inducted in the last quarter of 2018, scheduled for redelivery by end of 2019.
The A321 & A320 P2F conversion programs, launched in 2015, are the result of a collaboration between ST Aerospace, Airbus and EFW.
ST Aerospace is responsible for the engineering development phase, up to the Supplemental Type Certificate approval by EASA and US FAA.
Airbus contributes to the program with OEM data and certification support, while EFW leads the overall program and marketing & sales.
-The prime market for this cargo aircraft will be Europe, followed by USA and the Middle East. China and Southeast Asia is of course also a market but we expect that market to open up when a more important number of conversion of the A321 has been done so that Hub and Spoke gateways can take full benefit of the containerized lower deck, Peter Koster, Vallair Business Development Director told newstodate in October 2017.
