Feb 13, 2018 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport means business with its renewed focus on boosting air cargo.
The airport has opened for applications for two positions as Air Cargo Manager and Air Cargo Specialist, respectively, reporting to Morten Mortensen, Copenhagen Airport Director Airline Sales & Route Development.
The increased resources thus to be allocated to the airport's cargo business will add momentum to the plans to commissioning of a new 20,000 sq m cargo center within two years, announced by the end of 2017, as part of a new cargo strategy.
With the German developer AXXUS Capital as a key investor, the coming new facility will aim at handling of the growing proportion of belly cargo shipments on passenger aircraft, rather than freighters.
Latest cargo statistics from Denmark's Copenhagen Airport show a growth in the first 11 months of 2017 by five percent, y-o-y.
In January-November 2017 the airport thus handled a total of 331,684 tonnes, compared to 315,748 tonnes in same period 2016.
Of the total volume, cargo in passenger aircraft belly holds accounted for 107,103 tonnes, up six percent, while freighters generated 59,874 tonnes, a drop by 10 percent.
