Feb 07, 2018 (newstodate): Prior to the start of services on the coming new route between Hong Kong and Copenhagen, Cathay Pacific has announced the extension of the seasonal flights program.
With the inaugural flight on May 1, 2018, the oneworld member-carrier will be offering three weekly rotations with Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The period of services was originally set to end by October 12, 2018, but the service will instead run until October 26, 2018, seemingly spurred by a positive response in the market from the start of the booking period.
This bodes well for a future upgrade of the route to year-round services.
Cathay Pacific last served Scandinavia with flights from Hong Kong to Stockholm, Sweden, from February 14, 1995, first routed via Frankfurt and later operated as direct non-stop flights from winter 1995, but the airline pulled out again after a few years.
Since September 10, 2015, SAS has been operating flights from Stockholm to Hong Kong with five weekly rotations using Airbus A340/330 on the route.
