Feb 09, 2018 (newstodate): Starting from March 1, 2018, Aviator Finland and ASR Cargo Center start offering airline customers joint on-airport cargo handling at Helsinki.
The coming new cargo handling service will be located at the now-former Finnair Cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport after Finnair launched its new COOL Nordic cargo terminal from January 8, 2018.
-Our partner ASR Cargo is now in the process of moving to the on-airport facility, and an official opening ceremony has been scheduled for March 1 where all stakeholders are welcome, says Veijo Karosvuo, Aviator Finland Managing Director.
-As of March 1, 2018, Aviator and ASR Cargo are thus joining forces to offer best practices for any customers benefit, with both parties marketing and contracting the services, too, says Mr Karosvuo.
No details on airline launch customers have yet been released.
As the EU Commission in April 2014 approved Aviator's acquisition of the former Servisair Ground Handling operation at Helsinki Airport, Aviator re-branded the company as Aviator Finland offering a full handling package including passenger, ramp and de-icing services, as well as cargo ramp handling.
Located near Helsinki Vanta Airport, ASR Cargo Center set up by the Hong Kong-based ASR Holding's European subsidiary ASR Europe, launched business from March 2014 with a focus on handling trucked air cargo - but keeping an eye open on the future addition of flown air cargo in cooperation with an airport cargo handling partner.
This plan is now to be realized in the form of a solution integrating ground handling, apron cargo handling and cargo terminal handling.
