Dec 20, 2018 (newstodate): The Ohio-based Air Transport Services Group, ATSG has inked an agreement with Jetran, LLC to acquire twenty Boeing 767-300 passenger aircraft from Jetran over the next three years.
The aircraft will expand the company's pool of converted freighters, and plans are to start freighter modification of six of the twenty 767-300 aircraft during 2019, up to nine during 2020, and no fewer than five in 2021.
Based on the anticipated schedule, and apart from any other transactions involving 767-300 aircraft, ATSG projects that it would own at least 59 Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft by the end of 2021, compared with 39 at the end of 2018.
Among the carriers operating ATSG converted Boeing 767-200 freighter aircraft is the Swedish/British carrier West Atlantic.
West Atlantic's fourth Boeing 767-200 converted freighter was delivered at Cologne Airport on November 30, 2018, joining the fleet of three similar aircraft.
West Atlantic put its first Boeing 767-200F freighter in commercial service with TNT in April 2015, and all Boeing 767 freighters are sourced from ATSG that took a 25 percent stake in the Gothenburg-based West Atlantic Group in December 2013.
