Dec 17, 2018 (newstodate): Always there to lend a helping hand - and some financing - Chinese companies are active in a coming new airport project in Ukraine.
Plans are to construct a new airport between the Dnieper and Zaporizhia, in the country's central-southern region.
Tentatively named Prydniprovia Airport, construction works including terminal facilities and a runway are slated to start in 2019 and planned for commissioning by 2021-22.
On December 11, 2018, the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine signed a MoU with China Airport Construction Group Corporation to the effect that the Chinese partner will take responsibility for designing and constructing the new airport as well as supporting the project financially.
Set up in 1954, China Airport Construction Group Corporation provides engineering design and consulting, project management, engineering and construction services for civil airports in China and abroad.
A similar helping hand stretched out to Greenland was rejected by the Greenlandic and Danish governments earlier this year.
