Dec 06, 2018 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic seeing itself as a truly pan-Baltic airline is to bolster its presence in the Estonian market in 2019. Plans are to allocate two more Airbus A220-300 aircraft to the base opened in November 2014 at Tallinn Airport, offering more seats in the Estonian market where the airline is to offer flights to 12 destinations from Tallinn in summer 2019. airBaltic is currently operating flights from Tallinn Airport to Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm, Vienna and Vilnius, in addition to the connecting flights through Riga Airport, its main hub. Next year, airBaltic will increase the Estonian network with direct flights from Tallinn to Malaga from June 1, to Copenhagen from June 2, and to Brussels from June 3, 2019. airBaltic is thus doing its utmost to squeeze out the Estonian competitor, Nordica, from the Estonian market, forcing this carrier to build up a supplementary strategy of seeking bases outside Estonia and directing more capacity to the ACMI market.
