Dec 07, 2018 (newstodate): The Chinese regulator CAAC has now granted rights for the LCC Juneyao Airlines to start flights to Finland.
The license to operate took effect from November 11, 2018, and will allow the carrier to offer seven weekly nonstop rotations on the route between Shanghai and Helsinki.
Juneyao Airlines that performed its first commercial flight on September 25, 2006, has been a Star Alliance Connecting Partner since May 23, 2017, and operates a fleet comprising 72 aircraft including 70 Airbus A320 Family and two Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with orders pending for nine more Boeing 787-9.
If actually implemented, Juneyao Airlines' route to Finland will be the carrier's first long-haul route.
Already in the air between Helsinki and Shanghai since 2003, Finnair became the only Northern European airline as well as the only oneworld airline to offer direct flights to Shanghai - now with daily Airbus A530 aircraft rotations on the route.
