Nov 08, 2018 (newstodate): October 2018 was a strong month for Finnair Cargo measured in terms of tonnages, totaling 16,037 tonnes and up 4.3 percent, y-o-y.
Available scheduled cargo tonne kilometers increased by 6.8 percent, y-o-y, overtaken by revenue scheduled cargo tonne kilometers that increased by 12.6 percent, y-o-y.
This had a strong impact on load factors rising 1.7 percentage-points on an average, but by four percent on the Asian lanes and by no less than 13.6 percent on the Transatlantic routes.
The positive trend was not least driven by a strong positive development in the Japanese cargo market, further boosted by a similar positive development in Finland and on the routes to USA.
On the Asian lanes, Finnair Cargo carried 11,583 tonnes, and on the Transatlantic routes a total of 1,000 tonnes was lifted.
During January-October 2018, the company generated a total of 129,711 tonnes which is still 1.4 percent down, y-o-y, while growth on the Asian lanes was up 12 percent to 95,157 tonnes.
