Nov 23, 2018 (newstodate): The plan, revealed by Copenhagen Airport on March 28, 2017, for targeting stakeholders to take part in establishing a new Airport Business Park is still on the table - but awaiting final decisions.
The airport offers the lease of a 150,000 sq.m. area bordering on the Oeresund Sound and connected to the railway system as well as roads and the bridge to Sweden, while signing an agreement with the German developer AXXUS Capital to develop a brand-new 20,000 sq m air cargo center on the area expected to be ready in 2019 already.
While the clock is ticking, little, or rather nothing, has been heard since the announcement of the project.
-The project is still on the table and running, but there are some process issues along the way that are not yet finalized as planned, says Markus Wolf, Axxus Capital Geschaftsfuhrer.
-There are no issue with market or potential tenants. But there is a strategic issue yet to be solved. Anyway, the coming new terminal will be commissioned either late in 2019 or early 2020.
Copenhagen Airport confirms that the project is still of vital importance to secure a role as the Northern European center for cargo and e-commerce, and a hub for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries in Northern Europe.
-We are indeed working hard on this project while evaluating various scenarios deciding the eventual design of the facility - whether it will be a facility with one big operator, or a multi-user terminal, says a source within Copenhagen Airport.
