Nov 19, 2018 (newstodate): Ethiopian Cargo's much-heralded plans for launch of freighter services at Norway's Oslo Airport were first scheduled to lift off on September 27, 2018, later postponed till October 11, 2018 - but this did not hold either.
-We have advised Ethiopian Cargo to push back the start of services till 2019 as there is a marked shortage in the Norwegian seafood industry of the larger salmon, above eight kilos, preferred by the Chinese customers, says Martin Langaas, Avinor Director Cargo.
-The shortage is due to the effects from the extraordinarily warm summer which has proved a challenge to secure stable weekly deliveries.
-Guangzhou's authorities are strongly supporting the coming new service from the Chinese and Ethiopian Airlines is also keen to launch the route, but Avinor maintains a restraining effort till stable volumes can support the sustainability of the freighter flights from Oslo to Guangzhou, says Mr Langaas, recovering from participation in a Marathon in Addis Abeba.
