Nov 16, 2018 (newstodate): Some 50 representatives from stakeholders in Sweden's air cargo industry met in Stockholm yesterday to formally launch Air Cargo Sweden.
-Sweden's air cargo community lacks an over-all, neutral entity to represent the industry's concerns, visions and interests towards authorities and the society at large, said Bas van Goch, Swedavia Cargo Operations Manager Arlanda Stockholm Airport serving as a key driver in the process.
-The airfreight competence is generally low in Sweden, and government agencies would also benefit from a single point of entry to aviation and airfreight business. A one-stop shop for all stakeholders in the industry would promote the "ease of doing business", which will contribute to growing the total airfreight market.
-Enhancing the visibility of the airfreight industry in Sweden will also contribute to attracting more talents to increase the human capital and resources needed to bring the industry to new levels of technology and innovation.
-As the main source of information for airfreight-related information and statistics, the aim of Air Cargo Sweden is to become the dominant venue and the natural choice for airfreight-related issues in Sweden.
-ACS will drive the debate about the development of airfreight, by themselves and together with other industry stakeholders, Mr van Goch said.
Direct stakeholders in ACS are airports, airlines & GSAs, forwarders, cargo terminal operators, handling companies, and property owners, while indirect stakeholder comprise customs, police, hauliers, organizations and many others.
After a non-alcoholic toast officially declaring the birth of Air Cargo Sweden, participants signed up for six working groups, with first meetings scheduled for January 8-10, 2019.
