Nov 04, 2018 (newstodate): Small Planet Airlines Germany is now another chapter in the sad story of airlines grounded in 2018.
After finally losing all contracts with German tour operators, primarily Thomas Cook and TUI, the carrier ceased operations on October 31, 2018.
All aircraft have now been returned to lessors, except for two Airbus A321 that are still stored at Paderborn, Germany.
The German subsidiary of Lithuania's charter and ACMI provider Small Planet Airlines Group came off to a strong start in 2015 - but ran into heavy headwinds in September 2018, forcing it to file for a restructuring process.
Much efforts were invested in attracting new owner to the airline, but negotiations failed to solve the financial crisis.
