Nov 23, 2018 (newstodate): The Small Planet Airlines Group is fighting a hard struggle for survival. The Polish subsidiary is gone and the German subsidiary, now under custody, may or may not succeed in a sale to VLM, reportedly the only party with any interest in taking over the company. In the meantime, the Lithuanian Small Planet Airlines is struggling under a debts pile amassed by the Polish and German subsidiaries, while claiming to be in fairly sound shape on its own with profitable operations and secured contracts with charter customers. Now Lithuania's CAA has arrested one Airbus A320 aircraft at Vilnius Airport in security of debts at 726,000 euro, and action has even been initiated to take hold of one more aircraft, which has however not yet been implemented.
-The problem was soon solved, however, and the aircraft was released later the same day, says Simonas Bartkus, Small Planet Airlines Head of Marketing Department.
