Nov 20, 2018 (newstodate): The new Swedish ACMI carrier under formation, Scanblu Airlines is now close to end of a long process prior to launch of services.
The new carrier's first aircraft, an Airbus A321 formerly operated by Aeroflot and various Ukrainian companies, is now on the tarmac at Stockholm Airport for import clearance and registration.
-Once this has been obtained, we will receive our long-awaited AOC and be ready for business, says Bo-Goran Svensson, Scanblu Director flight Operations and Accountable Manager.
-The aircraft will be immediately available in the ACMI market where the demand for capacity is big and booming.
-I expect Scanblu to be in the air on its first commercial operation by the turn of this month, says Mr Svensson.
Initially, ScanBlu's hopes were to have the first aircraft in the fleet as well as the AOC in place before the end of April 2018 - later extended into the cause of May which also proved overly optimistic.
Managed by Christian Tadjeran as CEO and accountable manager, ScanBlu earlier planned to launch business with one Airbus A319 and, at as later stage, two Airbus A321 aircraft.
