Nov 21, 2018 (newstodate): The low-cost carrier Norwegian has now strengthened its foothold in the Swedish market by obtaining a Swedish AOC on November 20, 2018.
As a manifestation of the the opening of a new business chapter, the carrier landed its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with Swedish registration at Stockholm Airport after a ferry flight from Boeing in Seattle.
The new company, Norwegian Air Sweden will now apply for license from DOT to operate new flights from Sweden to destinations in the USA, but the carrier is also to seek access to launch of routes from Stockholm to Asian destinations.
This will, however, depend on more constructive outcome from ongoing aviation talks between Scandinavia and Russia - and a forthcoming attitude among the Scandinavian countries to revise the grandfather's rights enjoyed by SAS.
