Nov 12, 2018 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic's 14th Airbus A220-300 aircraft is now half-way through its flight test program and will soon join the fleet at Riga Airport as the last newcomer in 2018.
Already now, three of the next batch of six more aircraft are on the assembly line for delivery in 2019, completing the deliveries of the first 20 aircraft ordered.
On May 28, 2018, airBaltic announced a firm purchase agreement for the sale and purchase of another 30 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with options for an additional 30 aircraft of the same type.
The airline is thus poised to have an all-Airbus A220-300 fleet in 2020 after phasing out the remaining 11 Boeing 737 Classic and 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
Beyond this fleet replenishment, the carrier will still have 14 Airbus A220-300 aircraft for expansion including the set-up of bases outside the current Baltic footholds in Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.
