Nov 14, 2018 (newstodate): An Indian carrier is close to announcing the start of flights to Georgia, establishing the first-ever direct air service connecting the two countries.
Negotiations between TAV Georgia, managing Georgia's international airports at Tbilisi and Batumi, and India's largest airline, the low-cost carrier Indigo have been conducted since August 2018, and the carrier is now aiming at launching traffic between Delhi and Tbilisi from February 2019, using Airbus A321 aircraft.
Indigo Airlines is also the largest Asian low-cost carrier in terms of fleet size, and the 7th largest carrier in Asia operating 196 aircraft and with orders placed for another 412 aircraft.
