Nov 13, 2018 (newstodate): Helsinki Airport may see the approach of a new Russian carrier with flights from Moscow.
The Russian charter carrier iFly has been approved to operate regular scheduled flights from Moscow's new Zhukovsky International Airport to Helsinki, as well as to Athens and Milan, with up to four weekly rotations on each route.
No start-up date for the new routes has yet been announced, however.
Zhukovsky International Airport was officially opened on May 30, 2016, to served a Moscow region's 4th airport to relieve the pressure on the Moscow airports conglomerate.
Set up in 2009 by the Russian tour operator TEZ Tour and boosted by the Chinese company Tempus Global Business Service, the airline first launched business with lease of four Boeing 757-200 aircraft from ILFC.
In the fleet are now one Airbus A319, one A330-300, five A330-200 and one Boeing 757-200 that will be returned to the lessor by the end of the lease period.
