Nov 08, 2018 (newstodate): The void after Volga-Dnepr pulled out from the SALIS JV with Ukraine's ADB Antonov, created in 2006 to supply AN-124-100 freighter aircraft to NATO to satisfy the requirements of its Strategic Airlift Interim Solution, has now been filled.
Stepping in is the German GSA company Aircargonet, owned and managed by Klaus Lederer.
Aircargonet and Antonov have thus set up a joint company to provide NATO members with the much-needed AN-124 uplift capacity by positioning two AN-124-100 aircraft Ruslan freighters at Leipzig-Halle Airport from January 1, 2019, and securing additional freighter capacity as needed.
Besides offering capacity under the SALIS contract, Aircargonet will also offer the Ruslan freighter capacity in the GSA market on commercial terms.
In the fleet of Antonov Airlines are seven AN-124-100 as well as one AN-225 Mriya freighter aircraft
