Nov 09, 2018 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica is adjusting its route schedules from the start of the new year, 2019.
Driving the adjustment is the effort to optimize the utilization of the resources reflecting changing market situations and competition.
As a result, Nordica will pull out from the current routes from Tallinn to Oslo, Amsterdam and St Petersburg from January 2019.
After January 14, 2019, the route network will thus comprise flights by Nordica to Stockholm, Vilnius, Copenhagen, Brussels, Kiev, Warsaw, Vienna and Munich.
-The closure of the St Petersburg and Amsterdam routes is because of limited demand, while the closure of the Oslo route is the result of fierce competition making it financially nonviable to fly to the Norwegian capital as the third most popular carrier on the same route, says Hannes Saarpuu, Head of the Nordic Aviation Group, in a release.
In the fleet of Nordica are now 19 aircraft.
-According to plans for 2019 this number will not decrease; in fact, if further export projects are implemented, it may increase, the release states.
This is a cautious retreat from earlier announcements as late as on October 1 on the issue of aircraft fleet expansion stating the addition of two to three more aircraft in 2019.
