Nov 13, 2018 (newstodate): News are circulating that Air India will add a new route between Mumbai and Copenhagen, Denmark, already in 2019.
Air India has been online on the route between Delhi and Copenhagen since September 16, 2017, and is now offering four weekly rotations with Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
-We are indeed in the planning phase for adding flights between Mumbai and Copenhagen, confirms Divya Gauba, Air India Country Head Denmark.
-It is, however, impossible to announce a concrete launch date for the new service. We are convinced that there is a need in the market for this service, but opening a new route requires meticulous preparations to make sure that is commercially viable from the start. After all, opening new routes is hugely costly.
-Another issue of utmost importance is to obtain suitable slots that are much in demand at Mumbai Airport. This is in itself a most difficult challenge given the growing traffic at the airport serving India's vibrant commercial center.
-So yes, we are indeed working on this, and have been doing so for a long time, and hopes are that we will succeed. However, when it will actually happen remains in the air.
-It may come soon, or it may happen later, says Ms Gauba.
