Nov 05, 2018 (newstodate): Brussels Airlines' acquaintance with the Superjet 100 proved to be a rather short-lived romance.
Starting from April 2017, Brussels Airlines launched services with three Superjet 100, operated by CityJet, under a two-year contract.
The operational experience has not been convincing, however, and Brussels Airlines has announced that the contract will not be renewed as it expires in spring 2019.
Instead, the carrier will phase in Canadair CRJ-900 and CRJ-1000 aircraft, operated by Air Nostrum, replacing the Russian aircraft.
With an order for 15 SuperJet 100, and an option to acquire a further 16, CityJet became the first European customer for this aircraft type.
