Oct 04, 2018 (newstodate): China Eastern is shying away from the prospects of cold winters in Sweden, pulling out from the route Stockholm-Shanghai from the start of the upcoming winter schedule.
Expectations are, though, that flights will be resumed in next year's summer schedule.
Much heralded by Swedavia as one of the Chinese destinations most in demand also in the cargo market, China Eastern launched services between Shanghai and Stockholm from June 16, 2018, with four weekly rotations using Airbus A330-200.
Flights are expected to return again in summer 2019, and remain open for bookings.
This year Swedavia has been happy to see direct non-stop connections to three Chinese destinations including SAS to Hong Kong, Air China to Beijing, and China Eastern to Shanghai.
SAS has however now decided to moved its Hong Kong-flights to Copenhagen instead of Stockholm from October 28, 2018, and with China Eastern suspending services at Stockholm during the winter schedule, Beijing will remain the only Chinese destination at Stockholm during this coming winter.
