Oct 18, 2018 (newstodate): After sniffing at the Kazakh market in connection to the World Expo 2017 in Kazakhstan, Finnair operated two weekly rotations on the first-ever route between Helsinki and Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport from July 3 till end of September 2018.
Now the air has been cleared to allow for more direct air services between Finland and Kazakhstan as a result of negotiations during the Kazakh president's recent visit to Finland.
An MoU has thus been signed, allowing for seven weekly rotations on the route between Helsinki and Astana/Almaty by Finnish carrier Finnair.
The opening of the route operated in 2018 built on a new Air Services Agreement between Finland and Kazakhstan, signed in May 2018.
