Oct 10, 2018 (newstodate): Air cargo flows through Latvia's Riga Airport remain high in 2918, but September's volumes did not boost the growth.
A total of 2,215 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in September, which was down 12.5 percent, y-o-y.
The same month in 2017 was, however, unusually high on cargo with a hefty increase by 59.9 percent to 2,519 tonnes.
While mail volumes at 902 tonnes were the largest in one month so far into 2018, cargo volumes at 1,314 tonnes did not drive totals up.
During January-September 2018 the airport has handled 20,797 tonnes of cargo which is still an increase by 21.9 percent, y-o-y.
The growth in cargo at Riga Airport has thus continued even after the loss of Turkish Cargo's twice-weekly freighter service starting from July 1, 2017, till April 19, 2018, when it was moved to Vilnius Airport.
