Oct 02, 2018 (newstodate): High load factors and more aircraft capacity will enable the Polish carrier LOT to increase its services to Tokyo from 2019.
Starting from March 26, 2019, LOT will thus offer daily rotations on its route between Warsaw and Tokyo Narita Airport, operated with Boeing 787 aircraft.
In 2009, Poland and Japan inked a new air services agreement allowing for frequencies between the two countries to go up from two to 10 weekly rotations, and LOT was granted rights to operate up to three weekly flights into Tokyo Narita Airport from March 2010.
Starting from January 2016, LOT thus introduced three rotations on the route between Warsaw and Tokyo Narita with Boeing 787 aircraft capable of lifting up to 15 tones of belly hold cargo.
-The flights between Tokyo and Warsaw have became very successful. On average, the aircraft operating on that route have a load factor exceeding 80 percent, says a company spokesman.
The coming daily flights to Tokyo will become LOT's first intercontinental route with daily services.
In June 2018, LOT took delivery of its 11th Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, and by the end of 2019, the Dreamliner fleet increase to 15 aircraft.
Europe's first operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, LOT received its first Boeing 787 at its home base, Warsaw Airport on November 15, 2012.
