Oct 18, 2018 (newstodate): As one solid proof of new amicable relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea, Ethiopian Airlines is building up international connectivity at Eritrea's Asmara International Airport.
Three new routes are to be opened, including one between Norway and Eritrea with the first flight scheduled for December 1, 2018, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The flight will lift off from Ethiopia's Addis Abeba Airport to Asmara Int'l Airport, continuing to Oslo and Stockholm and returning along the same line, although is not now clear whether it will touch down first at Oslo or Stockholm.
Also from December 1, 2018, Ethiopian Airlines will commence services on a new route connecting Asmara and London Heathrow Airport, served three times weekly, adding flights between Asmara and Rome and Milan from December 11, 2018, with three weekly rotations operated with a mix of Boeing 777 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
This summer, Eritrea and Ethiopia bravely decided to end the brutal 1998-2000 border war, and already in July, Ethiopian Airlines performed the first flight in nearly two decades between Addis Abeba and Asmara.
