Oct 19, 2018 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is considering opening a line maintenance station for its Q400 fleet at Tallinn Airport, Estonia.
Today, the carrier is performing weekly and A-checks on the Q400 at its hub at Riga Airport, while C-checks are performed by the Canadian MRO service provider Jazz Technical Services under a contract, signed earlier this month.
In Estonia, the MRO provider Magnetic performs wheels & brakes maintenance on airBaltic's Q400 fleet, but it is not known if the opening of an own line maintenance station at Tallinn will affect the cooperation with Magnetic.
Already in the fleet of airBaltic are 12 Q400 aircraft, the first of which was delivered in November 2009.
The Q400 fleet is to be phased out by 2022 and replaced by the growing number of Airbus A220 aircraft
