Oct 11, 2018 (newstodate): France and Russia have held aviation talks on October 4-5, 2018, the first since 2012.
For France, the negotiations have resulted in acceptance of designation of a second operator on routes to Russia, beside Air France, and talks also focused on Russian overflight rights while no details on this have been announced.
For Russia, results are more immediately visible including a significant increase in the number of flights from 87 to 121 weekly rotations on routes to France as well as the addition of two more destinations, Montpellier and Marseilles.
Russian carriers may now increase the number of regular flights operated on the Moscow-Paris, Moscow-Nice and St. Petersburg-Nice routes by seven flights per week, as well as start flights on new routes Moscow-Montpellier, Moscow-Marseille, Moscow-Bordeaux with five weekly flights in each direction.
Flights can now also commence on routes to Paris from Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad.
Russian carrier can also now perform up to 80 weekly irregular or charter flights to France, against 40 in the earlier agreement.
On the freighter traffic, Russia has gained rights to five weekly cargo flights to Paris with full freedom to combine with intermediate points outside France.
