Oct 11, 2018 (newstodate): An unfortunate incident on September 25, 2018, at Chicago damaging an Airbus A330-300 aircraft has forced Finnair to charter external capacity.
To cover up for the AOG caused by damage from a loading vehicle, Finnair has thus dry-leased an Airbus A330 aircraft from Air Italy to be operating all flights on the route to Chicago from Oct 12 to Oct 29, and five return flights between Helsinki and Miami during October 2018.
With the wet lease, the flights will be operated with Air Italy's cockpit and cabin crews, and the flights will also have two Finnair cabin crew members on board to support the delivery of Finnair's customer service concept.
Finnair's damaged Airbus A330-300 aircraft will not be returned to service before the end of October 2018.
