Oct 19, 2018 (newstodate): Ethiopian Airlines seems to have established itself quite successfully at Norway's Oslo Airport, and is now to increase frequency.
Starting from December 10, 2018, the carrier will add one weekly rotation to its flights schedule between Addis Abeba and Oslo, going up to six weekly rotations on the route.
With the first flight on March 27, 2017, Ethiopian Airlines is currently offering five weekly rotations between Addis Ababa and Oslo with Boeing 787-8 aircraft, providing the first direct air link from Oslo to Africa via Stockholm that has been served since October 28, 2003.
As already reported, Ethiopian Airlines is also to launch flight on a new route between Asmara, in Eritrea, and Oslo from December 1, 2018, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
While the carrier is thus increasing its passenger services at Oslo Airport, the plans for start of a freighter service, first scheduled for September 27, 2018, and later postponed till October 11, 2018, are still undecided.
The service would be operated with a Boeing 777-200F routed from Addis Abeba to Lagos, in Nigeria, to Oslo, and continuing to Guangzhou via a stop at Liege to load other European shipments for China.
-The opening flight on October 11, 2018, has been postponed by joint decision with the stakeholders, Ethiopian Cargo told newstodate.
Since then, no new date for launch of freighter services has been announced.
