Oct 02, 2018 (newstodate): Like the Icelandic/Danish Primera Air Group, another Icelandic carrier WOW Air is also blaming delays in aircraft deliveries for problems.
WOW Air has thus informed the market that all flights to Stockholm, Edinburgh and San Francisco will be suspended for a period from November 5, 2018 till April 2019 in order to optimize the utilization of the aircraft fleet.
According to WOW Air, the changes in the route plans are caused by the delayed delivery of two Airbus A330neo aircraft that were slated for delivery by November 2018 but will not arrive until late February 2019.
Other problems may, however, derive from the airline's alleged need for fresh funds which was also the reason behind the recent USD 300mio emission, badly needed for financing the airline's aggressive expansion plans including the opening of new low-cost long-haul flights including a new route to New Delhi, India, planned to start from December 6, 2018.
