Jan 15, 2018 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airways has announced an ambitious plan for new aircraft acquisitions on 2018. But a threat has emerged.
If realized, the carrier's fleet expansion will comprise deliveries of four Boeing 777, six Boeing 737-800, and two Embraer E190 aircraft in 2018.
The Ukrainian state has however announced a new regulation taking effect from January 1, 2018, abolishing tax rebates for aircraft seating between 44 and 110 passengers and having an MTOW between 10 and 30 tonnes imported under operational lease agreements.
The tax rebate program proposed in 2016 aims at bolstering the competitiveness of the country's own aircraft production against western competitors, primarily protecting the AN-140 and AN-158 aircraft.
