Jan 12, 2018 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines' freighter flights have lifted cargo volumes through Latvia's Riga Airport to new heights in 2017.
In January-December 2017 the airport handled a total of 25,525 tonnes of cargo, an increase over the preceding year by 29.2 percent.
16,421 tonnes were cargo, up no less than 44.6 percent y-o-y, and 9,104 tonnes were mail volumes , also rising eight percent.
The key driver in the airport's cargo traffic has obviously been Turkish Cargo's freighter service starting from July 1, 2017, with two weekly Airbus A330-200F rotations from Istanbul bringing the airport's monthly cargo growth figures into two-digit levels after a bleak first half-year.
