Jan 30, 2018 (newstodate): Media reports about Libya to take back the two Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A320 aircraft placed in Lithuania are not to be trusted.
Media reports claim that the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Reconciliation Agreement has notified the Lithuanian Permanent Mission to the United Nations of Afriqiyah's intention to take back possession of the aircraft with immediate effect.
Due to the unstable situation in Libya, the two Airbus A320 were placed on Small Planet Airlines' AOC from summer 2015 under a special contract between Libya's Afriqiyah Airways and Small Planet Airlines.
-A person posing as a Chairman of Afriqiyah Airways is writing everywhere to terminate the agreement. But he is a fake, says Vytautas Kaikaris, Small Planet Airlines Group CEO.
-The real Chairman is the one we have signed the agreement with many years ago, which has also been validated by Libyan courts.
-We continue to use Libyan A320 aircraft, and there are no plans to redeliver them early, says Mr Kaikaris.
Small Planet Airlines was first commissioned by Afriqiyah Airways in spring 2014 to operate its daily flights from Tripoli to Dusseldorf, London Gatwick and Paris CDG on a two-month contract.
