Jan 12, 2018 (newstodate): Russia's Samara Kurumoch International Airport serving the Volga Region has now commissioned its second runway.
The new runway was opened for traffic from December 31, 2017, and has now already served more than 600 flight operations.
The 3,001m runway is Category IIIA by ICAO starndard and will accommodate operations by aircraft the size of Boeing 777 or Airbus A340.
The federal airport is used by more than 30 Russian and foreign air carriers offering regular flights to 50 destinations Russian and international destinations.
