Jan 12, 2018 (newstodate): Integrators play a significant role in cargo at Denmark's Copenhagen Airport.
In January-November 2017, the latest period reported, DHL and FedEx handled 62.940 tonnes of cargo at Copenhagen, an increase by 13.5 percent, y-o-y.
In the same period, integrators' volumes constituted 19 percent of the total cargo volume handled at the airport, increasing from 17.5 percent in January-November 2016.
In the 11-month period 2017, integrators transported 55,702 tonnes on freighters, up 9.3 percent, y-o-y, while 6,986 tonnes were trucked, up 64 percent.
The significant rise in integrator cargo by trucks is probably due to the opening of the FedEx Express gateway facility at Copenhagen Airport early in 2016 serving as a gateway for inbound and outbound shipments for Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The remaining 142 tonnes were transported in belly cargo compartments.
