Jan 09, 2018 (newstodate): 2017 was another year of growth in Finnair's cargo volumes.
The carrier lifted a total of 157,028 tonnes of cargo during the year, an increase by 8.8 percent, y-o-y, boosted by a 14 percent rise in Asian loads at 103,968 tonnes.
Loads in European traffic were down 0.2 percent to 25,579 tonnes while NAM loads were up 4.9 percent to 9,173 tonnes.
Over the year, the cargo load factor rose by 4.2 percentage-points to 71.5 on the Asian lanes which, together with a sound hike in rates, would indicate a fairly positive contribution from the cargo operations.
In December 2017, a total of 12,010 tonnes was carried, steeply up by 34.6 percent and again lifted by a hefty 66.7 percent increase in the Asian volumes at 9,090 tonnes, notably generated by the Greater China markets.
