Jan 31, 2018 (newstodate): The rift between Russia and Ukraine has brought significant benefits to at least one airline: Belavia.
The Belarus carrier took on the role of securing continued air traffic between the two belligerent countries by increasing its traffic between destinations in Russia including Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod and Ukraine via its hub at Minsk Airport.
Belavia thus saw passenger volumes up by 20.9 percent, y-o-y, in 2017 to a total of three million passengers.
Also in 2017, Minsk Airport raised its passengers volumes to 4.1 mio passengers, an increase by 20 percent, y-o-y.
