Jan 10, 2018 (newstodate): Norwegian is to replace all engines on its current fleet of 21 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with an upgraded version of the Rolls Royce Trent 1000.
Speaking to Norwegian media, the company's communications manager confirms the decision to upgrade to Trent 1000 TEN engines after a series of malfunctions that have repeatedly grounded aircraft or required unplanned maintenance and repairs.
-Replacement takes place according to a plan for motor exchange where the costs are covered by an agreement with the supplier, Lasse Sandaker-Nilsen, Norwegian Communications Manager says.
Norwegian will take delivery of another batch of 11 Boeing 787 aircraft in 2018, all equipped with the new engines from the start.
